just now watched the video….your sis seems very sweet, as do you.

I didn’t call u a hypocrite because of “agnutz”, Jerry. In fact, i never said a word about “agnutz.” You misunderstand me or are intentionally twisting my words around….i dunno.

It’s frustrating….as much for u, i suppose, as for me. I give up.

    R..

umm, I never mentioned you in the video. But I will say that your comment was rather colorful a few posts ago.

Thank you “willy”. I’ve been trying to put what i’m feeling into words for the last couple days. Jerry keeps saying he respects the Hutterites. He has just proved to me how utterly…you’re a hypocrite, Jerry, and i’ll bet you don’t even know it.

It’s frustrating for you? lol. If Frustration and Disappointment had a love-child it would be the spokesperson for the way you guys have treated this project.

And I have not even began to really talk about Hutterite life. Go figure.

BTW: Yeah, my family member, (in the video) is very sweet and I like to think I am a nice person as well. Although the only time I question that is when I come in contact with certain HUTTERITES on this blog.

They do a terrific job in making one feel :(

    Thats all.

    Dear Jerry,

As a baptised ‘Hutterite’ or even bettter follower of Jesus, I think this whole discussion is totally out of proportion.
What really matters is following Jesus, with or without cell phones, with or without the nowadays technology.
Let us all focus on loving each other as we love ourselves. Loving without any limit. Loving even when people do or do not use cell phones to test more than 1000 messages.
But: if this cell phone is destructive to the above mentioned LOVE then I would call them from the devil.

    Hey Jerela:

Wow, haven’t read this blog for a while due to the anactivty on it (shame on you! lol . . .) and now I come back and all this business about a WSJ article and cell phone debate is goin’ on . . .

    Ha, ha – Jerela’s back!

Can’t say I can relate to the whole view on the whole cell phones being controversial thing – where I’m originally from that is such a non-issue. People are quite level headed there when it comes to that sort of thing. I guess they’re more with it – I’m just kind of realizing that and it makes me appreciate that/them all the more . . .

Jerela – people fear the unknown and if you’re uber-religious the unknown is always labelled as evil. Instead of bothering to LEARN and research things/issues and think it through – it’s a lot easier to give it an evil label. And history has proven time and time again of how disasterous and dangerous that way of thinking can be.

Just think back to the time in your great and wonderful country (big fan of the good old U S of A) when black people were seen as third class citizens (or worse) due to the fact that they are different (beautifully different!). Instead of embracing what is different and beautiful they oppressed them horribly. We all need to think about that and learn a very valuable lesson from it . . .

And yeah Jerela – what’s up with me not being able to view your latest video rant?!? I’m horribly disappointed! I feel sooooooooooo left out of the loop now! My self-esteem is shot and I’m terribly offended and hurt to be slighted by you.

So c’mon now ‘evil doer’ and let me see that video!

    And keep the bloggin’ a comin’ . . .

Sandi… Thanks for the nice comment .. you said ..

Instead of bothering to LEARN and research things/issues and think it through – it’s a lot easier to give it an evil label.

WOW that is such an intelligent and insightful statement. I cannot agree with you more and it is very unfortunate that people do this but it is so true.. and how many times does that happen in life? TOO OFTEN

That is why this project .. in a way.. is so very dangerous, I know this thing is being watched with hawk-eyes and I am trying to be as respectful to my family and the Hutterites as I can. Everyone knows this, I hope, by now…

Well most people anyway… I got a call the other day from a concerned friend who said that someone told him that I was bashing “a certain culture” on this Blog. I can only sigh and shake my head in disappointment when I hear things like that.

It is people like you that make this so rewarding and I thank you very kindly.

I made the video private because I had too. I do not need to explain why. Like I said this is a very touchy project..

If you would like to see it send me an e-mail and I will get it to you.

I would hate for you to be out of the loop.. :)

    Have a super day friend
    Jerry

Hi Jerry, In light of the recent tragedy in your family with the passing of the young man Freddy, I was wondering how do the hutterites deal with the grieving process as far a funerals and burials of those who have left and died outside the colony. I do know that some religions have separate burial grounds for members that have left their affiliations and even during their lifetime they will austricise them and family members are forbidden to interact with them. Are hutterites open to grievance counceling from community family health care centers? Are you at liberty to comment on this? How do hutterites perceive those that have left and died while absent from the colony. I understand you can only speak for the group of hutterites you grew up in, so this will not be a generalized answer. I am sorry if talking about this is upsetting given the time line with your friends passing, but it gave me food for thought. I do think you are a wealth of knowledge and I also appreciate you willingness to share with openess and sincerity. dorty

    Dorty..

WOW! You have touched on something that I have wanted to speak about for a while now. This is a VERY PERSONAL issue with me.

    COMING in NEXT POST!

    Peace
    Jerry

    Hey Jerela:

You’re more than welcome – I personally think that most people see you for what you are. It’s always the loud ones that post and leave the negative comments that would make you think that you’re this horrible person.

You come across as being quite genuine and not at all out to blast your culture. It’s just that they’re a very private group of people – which I cannot, or ever will, fault them for that, because I am too. Some of them might instantly feel like they need to be on the defence. I don’t know what the reason may be, but I do know that you’re quite respectful on here and knowing that, I think it would be fairly safe to assume that you’re like that pretty much everywhere else.

Some of us like to live private lives and some of us like to have websites ;) It’s okay – I don’t think it’s anyone’s place to condemn either.

    I just felt like I had to defend you a bit here – couldn’t help it . . .

One of the many valuable lessons I’ve learned in life is this: You can’t help what people think/say about you, so just let it go and live the life God gave you and go out and do what you’re meant to do. And no – don’t let those voices also tell what God’s will is for YOUR life either . . . Like what’s up with that – why would God gossip to other people about you to THEM and not to YOU? My suggestion is that you go to the source yourself, establish that relationship and get the good stuff right from God Himself . . .

    How’s that for a plan, Jerela? I like it . . .

    :) ;)

Hello Jerry: Cool site dude. Hopin’ to see some guitar pickin’ on your u tube site.Haven’t seen any good hutterite guitar pickin’ and the girls singin’ for a lot of years. Left the colony some 30 years ago and I know for a fact that Birch Creek, Martinsdale, Huron to name a few had some musical talents. By the way you are a lucky fella residing so close to the Gibson factory. Good luck with your site. Rockin’ Rigger
